Is there a reason to bother playing through Diablo 1 before Diablo 2?

I doubt there is a particularly awesome storyline, even though diablo is supposed to be the supreme hack n' slash action RPG. Blizzard is cool enough that they might actually have something that makes the first installment worth going through. Bed time.When I wake up tomorrow, I expect to see some asinine comments and then two people with good informed answers.
