How do i change the hard drive?

i have a hp pavillion 533w and im trying to install a replacement harddrive i got from another computer, but when i install the harnesses to the new harddrive in the master location it doesnt load, i do have the jumper in the correct location for master only but it only is recognized by the computer in the slave location. The old drive is bogged down with bots andspyware and want to replace it with this one that was a part of a computer that immediately received a harddrive upgrade at my work. so any help is appreciated!
