Isle of Skye to be renamed with it's Gaelic name?

Heard on BBC Radio 4 this morning that the Island Council of Skye is going to remove the name Skye and replace it with island's old Gaelic name. Is this a bad move considering that most tourists and visitors to Skye do not speak Gaelic and new tourists will not know Skye from Boat if it's not in English!?
