Breaking Gl Out of Nowhere?

I was talking to my girlfriend and a clear gl cup exploded. I had my shoes on but my girlfriend didn't. I grabbed her and took the broom and cleaned up. PS. The gl was not heated or cooled, I figured out that gl heated then cooled to quickly, explodes, because my mom did that with eggs in a bowl, after it exploded, it wasn't pretty.
